Description

The second Hotel Echo, 30 Winnacunnet Road, built in 1918 on the site of the first, which was destroyed by fire in September 1913. For the first few years this was known as the Echo House. It changed its name to the Hotel Echo by 1921. In April 1923 it came under the ownership of a Mr. Williams from Exeter, at which time it had been out of business for a period of time. It reopened on May 9, 1923, closed for a while about 1927, and then reopened as the Whittier Inn before 1930. At right is the parsonage of the Baptist church.
