Description
Hampton's famous old elm tree. This elm spread its stately limbs over Elmwood Corner at 252 Winnacunnet Road (at the intersection with Landing Road) from about 1773 until it was infected by Dutch Elm disease and cut down in 1959. The Elmwood Inn opened at this location in the late 1890s continued as an inn, off and on, for many years until the 1990s, when it went by the name of "The Inn at Elmwood Corners".
